Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks has a population of 127,228 and is the second-largest city in Ventura County. It’s part of the northwestern Greater Los Angeles Area, about 40 miles from downtown LA. Thousand Oaks gets its name from the large number of oak trees present in the area and is recognized as one of the most desirable places to live in California. It’s located between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, with over 15,000 acres of natural publicly owned land. There are 150 miles of trails for walking, hiking, biking, and named one of the country’s greenest cities.

Thousand Oaks is a hot-summer Mediterranean climate with hot summers, mild winters, and moderate rainfall. The area is slightly cooler than the surrounding areas due to the cold air it gets from the ocean through hills and mountain passes. During the summer, the high temperature will be around 89°F, and during the winter, the low will be about 44 °F. The temperature rarely goes below 40°F or above 89°F. Thousand Oaks gets 268 sunny days and 18 inches of rain per year.
