Ventura

Ventura is the county seat of Ventura County, California, and has a population of 111,566. It’s located between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. The coastal city is flanked by two free-flowing rivers and was incorporated in 1866. In the 1920s, the development of nearby oil fields and automobile travel created a major real estate boom. The downtown area has many historic buildings and has become a retail, cultural, residential, and tourist destination.

Ventura, like most coastal cities in California, has a Mediterranean climate. The sea breeze from the ocean keeps temperatures moderate in the area and can sometimes experience the Santa Ana winds, which dramatically increase temperatures. Throughout the year, the city temperature will vary from 44-76°F, rarely going above 82°F or below 39°F. Ventura gets an average of 272 sunny days and 16 inches of rain per year.
